Late November 2004
The windmills themselves were delivered to Gigha last
week and the first job was to have them cleaned up ready for their
erection. Being Scotlands first community owned windfarm,
it was fitting that the folk of Gigha turned out to help in the
cleaning process.
Here
Vie and Caroline get to work on scrubbing up the main sections of
the turbine tower. Note the weather - the sun ALWAYS shines
on Gigha!
Even
the most difficult areas of the blades had to be reached to ensure
they were spotlessly clean. Anyone tell me who this is?
I think its John Earnshaw but I could be completely wrong.
And there they all are - spick and span and ready for their introduction
to the winds of Gigha. Now, all that we need is a calm day,
an enormous crane and a bit of luck we'll be generating the finest
power in Scotland!!
