Tea Tent - Achamore Gardens

Three summers ago, a tea-tent was set up within the walled gardens not only to provide a welcome cup of tea and the most sumptuous cakes and biscuits but the money raised helped toward the three year restoration project (2005-2008).
For the 2010 season the tent will be replaced by an Education and Interpretation Unit so that the story of the garden can be told along with some of the key plants used and the people who have moulded the fabric of the garden as seen today, and the return of locally produced refreshments and a cheery smile.
Visitors and Islanders alike who turn round the corner at the admission kiosk are confronted with a large wooden building which is the shell to be developed as the new unit. We have to preserve the outside, paint the floor, add a buggy/wheelchair ramp, panel the inside and see if we can get electric to the site. We will also need some new tables and chairs, cutlery and crockery etc.
So the story of Achamore Gardens can be told in a style that befits Gigha, with a smile, a cuppa and the best cakes ever.
